amazing, some have the tendency to sour like milk- the random, no plan email you think is a good idea to send… think before sending. Others looked good on paper (map)…
I’m currently in Alexander City, Alabama. Which is not exactly where I expected to be; originally, I had planned to go due west into MS, but after eyeball 278/78 first hand, thought the better of it.
After getting a new cell phone (i took an unnecessary shot at Walmart the other day – BIG thanks to David and Tina at the Jacksonville Walmart for not only giving me directions, but calling to make sure the local sprint supplier would replace my phone – life saver) I went back to Piedmont to stay the night.
I ended up also scoring a driving tour (in a car) of the city from the town’s master historian, welcome center head-honcho, and curator of all things gossip – Perry-Ann. Awesome time no question. The next morning I got up for the ride into “The highest point in Alabama.” Right, smart, good job Jason – when cars are struggling to go up hill… well, enough said. I was enventually able to take a warm shower, which was a help for everyone within 10 feet of me.
The plan at this point is to go straigh-ish into Florida then west to who knows where. I’ve been cutting weight like it’s going out of style – the bike not me – Nick, Christmas is going to come early for you to the tune of a camera, lens, charger, boots, etc, etc…
A ton of miles clicked off today – somewhere around 72 at the moment, without about 20 or so until the nearest camp site.
